Why do you do what you do? No, seriously—think about it. Take the clichés about passion or “making a difference” and toss them aside for a second. What’s the real reason you pour your time, sweat, and (occasionally) tears into building and sustaining your business?


If your answer boils down to “get X number of clients” or “reach Y revenue,” we need to have a chat. Goals like these, while valuable, will only push you so far before you’re burnt out, frustrated, and probably questioning the life choices that got you here.


I’m here to tell you something important as we head into 2025—your “why” matters more than it ever has. It’s not just this nebulous concept motivational speakers throw around; it’s the foundation that guides you when everything feels like chaos. And spoiler alert—it needs to be personal, deeply connected to something you care about, or it’s not going to stick.

The pandemic taught us that businesses with superficial “whys” tend to crumble when the going gets tough. It aligns your business strategy with what gets you out of bed every morning, even on the days when last night’s sleep was—how do I put it?—“optional.”

Your “why” isn’t some cold, analytical checklist—it’s emotional, and it’s innate. Without this emotional tie, your purpose lacks an anchor. For example, if you’re running a wellness business, maybe your true why is helping people feel the confidence you struggled to find earlier in life.


It’s deeply personal, and that’s the point. If your why doesn’t make you feel something, it probably won’t stick when things get hard.
